I thought credit reports go all the way back?

I was looking at a friends credit report and looked over her amex account. It was opened in 1993, but it only goes back to 2007 regarding payment history. How do I go furtherh back? to check for late payments ect.

By law, your credit report only shows the last 7 years of payment history.  This is a good thing so people who have had problems in the past can recover.  Your CR will have old accounts on it as long as they still are open or within 10 years of closing.  BK can stay on for 7 or 10 years.

thanks for taking the time to answer.  One quickk thing tho, it seems she recently got back on good terms with amex a few months ago. If i were to become a AU on her account, would any negative actions done by her affect me as well?
