Improving score

My score is 709 and I would like to improve it the high 700's.  What is the best way to accomplish that?

Hi, Kycol, welcome to the forums!

We can give you more specific info if you can summarize what you already have:

  • open accounts, both CC's and other

  • how many closed accounts, both open and other

  • what year your oldest account, open or closed, of any type that still shows on your reports

  • any "baddies": derogatories that hurt your credit, and how long ago

  • your total available revolving credit (CC's and unsecured lines of credit) and balances that reported on any open cards

Since you said "score", singular, I'm guessing that you pulled your EQ (Equifax) score. You also have scores and reports with TU (TransUnion) and EX (Experian.)

If you don't have any baddies, I will guess that your 709 (which is a good score, btw) is due to a combination of balances reporting on your cards and a short history. It could be many other things, though.
  • * Credit is a wonderful servant, but a terrible master. * Who's the boss --you or your credit?
FICO's: EQ 781 - TU 793 - EX 779 (from PSECU) - Done credit hunting; having fun with credit gardening. - EQ 590 on 5/14/2007
