Increasing Equifax credit score

Hello everyone,

I have worked hard to increase my score and have made some great strides in increasing my score. The challenge I have is Equifax seems to be lower than all and continues to fall behind. I don't have many cards that report to that credit bureau. How can I work on Equifax to help increase? The weird thing is mortgage and credit card 5,4,2 look good but auto scores are not great for Equifax. Is this because my old auto was negative at one time?

Re: Increasing Equifax credit score

That could be possible but from I send from my equifax score which is also my lowest they count my loan to balance ratio into my score. Basically my student loans don't have anything paid towards the principal balance so Equifax penalizes me for that.

Re: Increasing Equifax credit score

Yes, a late payment on an auto loan can adversely impact auto scores a good deal.

I'm a bit unclear when you say you don't have a lot of cards that report to EQ.  Is there a reason why?  How many CCs do you have on your EX/TU reports?  I would work on getting them reported on EQ as well to thicken that file a bit more.

Re: Increasing Equifax credit score

My apologies for late response BrutalB,

I have 3 credit cards and all 3 report payments and display open on Transunion and Experian but not on Equifax. So should I reach out to card company or Equifax?

Re: Increasing Equifax credit score

None of those 3 show up on EQ?

The chance of 3 different lenders not reporting your account/reporting it correctly to EQ but they are reporting it correctly the EX/TU is as close to zero as you can possibly get.  That being said, this sounds like an EQ issue to me.  I would start by calling them and explain the issue.  I would imagine it has something to do with your profile data on file... maybe SS#, name, etc. something may be off which isn't allowing the reporting to land in the right place.  Your accounts may be hanging out on some other CR out there.

Re: Increasing Equifax credit score

BrutalB,

I was able to reach out to Equifax and after being on the phone with them for hour and talking to Supervisor they found out the my address was not updated. It still had an old address that was with holding that data. They updated and now I have to wait for next update on Fico to what it looks like then. Once again thanks for the feedback.
