Inquiry confusion...

My most recent pull from TU here at myFICO still shows inquiries from December 07.  If it is still showing, is it being counted against me?   Just a hiccup on my report??

What is really strange is that the report I pulled in January of this year does NOT show these 07 inquiries.

Any insight or transfer of points Smiley Very Happy is greatly appreciated!!

Re: Inquiry confusion...

I agree; these shouldn't even be displaying on a FICO report. FICO reports only display inqs from the immediate 12 months preceding, as the older ones are ignored for scoring purposes.

This sounds like something that Customer Service needs to look at, especially if the inqs are still considered to be influencing your scores. Unfortunately, they're closed on Sundays, but I'd give them a try tomorrow.

No, credit inquiries are only scored for one year in FICO.

Re: Inquiry confusion...

I realize they are only supposed to be used for a year, but if they are on my myFico TU report, and it says that I have 16 inquiries affecting my score, 3 of those 16 are from 2007,  they are in fact not affecting it?

I don't understand why an inquiries from July/Dec of 2007 are still showing on my report of April 16 when it wasn't on there in my Jan 09 report.   Any ideas?

Re: Inquiry confusion...

Thanks for the numbers hauling!  I'll give them a ring in the a.m.

*Update*  I called customer service speaking with Jennifer who was most pleasant!  She could not figure out why they were showing and especially since they weren't there in January.  She spoke with her supv. who had no idea why it was that way either.

They are forwarding the info to report development (I think that is what she called it) for further review and I should have an answer to this mystery within 3-4 days.

Re: Inquiry confusion...

After no follow up email in 3-4 days as I was told, I called them and  was passed on to the supervisor.  According to him, I was the "one in a million whom Transunion sent inquiries beyond the 1 year time frame."

I specifically asked if TU only sends the previous 12 mos inquiries when a report is requested rather than what was shown on the report and he replied yes.  So TU only sends a partial report??

Again, he tried to tell me that if it wasn't in the last 12 months that is doesn't affect my score.  Then why does my report say that 13 inquiries may be affecting my score when in fact it should only be 10??  (I used the wrong totals in my original post)

I'm stuck with them until a new report is pulled (at my cost) and hopefully TU doesn't send more than 12 mos. worth of inquiries.

This bugs the heck out of me.... but I'm not sure quite why.

Re: Inquiry confusion...

That's odd; I didn't think that TU "sent" anything at all. FICO scores are crunched at the CRA's, not by FICO, using the reports that they maintain. Why your score report was crunching older inqs, I can't imagine.

I'd try again with CS. If nothing else, you might be able to get a free TU report out of them. Back in my early days of trying to untangle Score Watch (EQ, of course), they very patiently gave me a fair number of freebies.

Re: Inquiry confusion...

So I bit the bullet and bought another FICO TU report....lo and behold the same OLD inquiries are on there!  And it still says that 13 inquiries are affecting my score, 3 of the 13 from 2007!

Something is not right!  It has 3 updated balances exactly as reported on 04/21 according to the TU report from truecredit, yet still old inquiries.  No change in score however the update balances were probably offset by yet another cld.

Does this make it "2 in a million" since this has happened to me twice now??Smiley Mad

Who shall I contact next?  One customer service supervisor didn't know why this happened, and another supervisor basically said TU sent a partial report and I was "1 in a million" that this would happen to.

FICOgurus, what say ye??

Re: Inquiry confusion...

Checking around for you, but I'm skeptical about the "TU sent yada yada", since TU isn't sending anything. They're crunching your report at their place, not at FICO.

Re: Inquiry confusion...

Your help is greatly appreciated!  It's strange, I had two inquiries drop that were dated 04/23, yet those 3 from 2007 are still there.

Rather than edit previous post once again, it now shows 11 inqs with 3 of those from 2007.

*note to self*  Make an eye dr. appointment!
