Being an AU will still help until Sept.

And probably a bit longer. Only one CRA puts the new scoring formula into effect in September, and the other two CRAs won't change their FICO formula until sometime in 2008. So people will be able to squeeze out at least 4 additional months of AU benefits on 2 of their CRs. Smiley Happy

There is no difference in your FICO score between a secured CC or unsecured. Be careful of inaccurate information

No one said there was a difference between secured and unsecured CC reporting - the discussion was joint accounts and Authorized Users.

No one said unsecured cards weren't issued by large banks.

Yes, the credit ratio is the most important factor in FICO scoring for CCs, but no one said it wasn't; again, the question and discussion were about joint accounts and then AUs. And just because I'm being difficult lately, I'll point out that the ratio isn't the difference between balance and hi limit. The difference would be the available credit. If you're going to explain the ratio, please explain it correctly.

Please read more carefully before disagreeing with accurate posts and do be careful of inaccurate information.  Smiley Happy

If your fico is below 620 most likely a large lender will decline the application. You could always try jointly and if declined your DG could reapply individually.

Many posters at this forum have been approved for both the AMEX Gold Delta Skymiles card and Starwoods card with lower scores and no BK reporting on CRs.
