It was a bogus judgement to begin with, my ex was coming after me for close to $4000, I disagreed with her claims. So long story short, she brought me to small claims, fortunately the state of California agreed with me and only awarded her with $600. I paid this immediately. Which that doesn't matter as it still ends up on your credit report. So after years of trying to get the court to remove this nonsense, I started reaching out to the credit bureaus this year. The point that I made with the credit bureaus, is that if I had defaulted on a credit card, my mortgage, car payment, yes that sort of judgement has every right to be on my report. However in this case, it's a family matter. Plus if my ex had approached me to start with factual numbers, I would have gladly paid her without having to go to court... but that isn't how things went. I was forced to either pay her a highly inflated pulled out of her tail end $4000 or go through the legal system to have the State of California dictate & confirm, I only owed her $600 with the added bonus of me getting stuck with the ding on my credit.
I don't know if I would have done it differently if I could go back in time, either way...seems like extortion if you ask me.
So… now you can see my disappointment after all this hard work that my score didn’t increase when this was deleted.
