Judgement

I hope someone can help with my question. First I want to say, this is my 1st time using the forum. I find it to be very informative, in fact, I believe I am getting hooked on it. I have read it every day since I signed up. Now question....I have a judgement on my cr. It has no name, address, nothing but the amount of $1,600. I have never had a judgement for this amount or any other, however I had a company garnish my bank for 1 lump sum one time. Could this be construed as a judgement? If not since no info is on it, can I dispute? Any info would be appreciated.  Thanks  Rusty 101

Re: Judgement

Rusty, if it is indeed a judgement, then it will be recorded in the county of record courthouse. If you have ANY info on it(date, amount, docket #, etc) that's a great starting point. But you'll probably have to physically go to the court house to pull a copy. Good luck to you

Re: Judgement

I'd try the sub-prime cards, like Cap1, First Premier, Orchard, maybe even HSBC. My curiosity would get the best of me and I'd HAVE to find out what's on the credit report. But that's your call. Good luck!

Re: Judgement

It is my understanding that if you get denied a credit card, the agency denying the credit has to provide you the credit report. Also, some banks have trial "credit report" programs/ monitoring that are free for 30 days. You could at least get some info off that.

Not quite jenk. The lender has to provide you with the name and address of the CRA they used to deny your credit application. The rest is up to you, to find out why

Re: Judgement

I would dispute the judgment. Whoever put it on your CR has a legal obligation to give you address and contact information. They are not allowed to just list an anonymous judgment or collection.

Pardon my ignorance, but when you say dispute the judgement, do you mean dispute it directly with the credit reporting agency?

I'm in a similar situation, random judgement listed with EX with no contact information.

Re: Judgement

As for the judgment, it could very well be from the garnishment you had with your bank.  To my knowledge (someone correct me if I'm wrong here), in order to obtain a garnishment, you need to obtain a judgment first.   But I'd definitely try to find out what it was for.

On getting the credit card, I've found Orchard Bank (issued by HSBC) to be very friendly.  Good luck!
