LOC and UTIL...

Does line of credit balance factor in UTIL? My husband pulled his report and the line of credit does not have a util percentage like CC. Is this the case? If so, wouldn't it make sense to transfer some of cc bal over to loc since cc util impacts score?

Re: LOC and UTIL...

My NFCU LOC is included in my overall credit limits, which affects my overall util% on my CR's.

Re: LOC and UTIL...

The LOC limit is included in my overall limit I mean.

Edit: Lost my internet before I was going to add I dont normally carry a balance on my LOC, so never really noticed either way.

Re: LOC and UTIL...

An LOC is a revolving line of credit, with a pre-approved limit upon which the consumer can choose to use, and their payments then revolving around the accrued balance. It is included in revolving util with a caveat. The FICO algorithm excludes certain higher-balance LOCs from scoring under revolving % util. HLOCs, for example, are LOCs, but have many of the characteristics of a secured loan. FICO treats HLOCs with a balance of, if I recall, greater than $35K, as installment in scoring, and thus they are not included in your revolving % util.
