Looking for direction

I'm looking for advice to improve credit. My credit was 620 nows it's 719 after my debt consolidation last month. So first my situation is my negatives are...

1x bankruptcy (drops 05/28)

2x installment loans (-18,500)

6 year credit history

2 hard inquiries (both this year)

Now the positives are...

2x credit cards (+14,000) no missed payments

No auto loan, mortgage or student loans

Not sure what to do, I was recently denied a chase sapphire credit card to increase my utilization  amount but because of my bankruptcy, so I'm wondering if there's anyway to keep building my credit or should I just wait till my bankruptcy falls off

Re: Looking for direction

Its generally best to have three bank cards reporting, keep individual utilization under 29%, agg under 9% and do azeo. Your loans will check the mix box. You don't say which cards you have or who you burned in bk. You don't say which score is 719, you have many.

For a third card, I'd pick a no fee card like amex bce, unless you burned amex. They do apply with confidence, no hp unless approved. Capone is known to be bk friendly, if you like their cards, they do preapproval too. A lot of folks love nfcu, if your eligible and didn't burn them. Also preapproval, but not considered reliable. Worked for me.

Good luck

Re: Looking for direction

I currently have Mountain America CC (9,000) and Discover CC (5,500) only 950$ that's been used between both right now

In my bankruptcy I had a vehicle threw Santander and either a CC or loan but it was like 2 things (looking back i should have never did it) but not anybody I'm with now is in the bk

On my Experian account my Experian is 719, my Transunion and Equifax are still a 620 pending 43 days on my next report

On my Fico account my Experian is 719, Equifax is 702 and Transunion is 693

I have my consolidation loan threw ngfcu not sure if the same as nfcu but if they are would they approve a credit card on top of current loan

I only have 2 hard inquiries both are since March this year the recent Sapphire application which dropped me 2 points and my loan how many more times should I try applying for credit card

What is hp?

What is agg?

What is azeo?

Thank you for your help!

@Ralo2010

HP = Hard Pull

AGG = Aggregate (total)

AZE0 = All Zero Except One

Here is a link to some other (not all) common abbreviations used on the forum.

Re: Looking for direction

You can do azeo with two cards, one report zero, the other nonzero. It's reported balance that counts, know your post dates. If you let both report zero at the same time, you'll see about a -20 point penalty. Don't worry, it's only temporary, get back to azeo next month, you get the points back. Happened to a friend recently.

Thanks for the help

I recently applied for Amex and was denied so I guess I have to wait for my bk to drop

Re: Looking for direction

Capone is bk friendly. Do preapproval may offer secure card, which builds credit history fine.

I'd just pick one of their $0 AF cards, unless you can make use of one of their travel cards.

You know who should have an answer to this question though, those nerdy wallet folks !!
