You're missing something. There has to be a change in something for that big of a difference assuming you're comparing two scores from myfico from the same bureau. Balance, inquiries, last activity dates on negative items, etc.
Unfortunately it's not as easy to come up with something like "unplug the device, make sure the connection isn't dusty, and plug it back in" (a polite way of saying "check that the device is plugged in" but asking this way actually leads to the person doing as requested, rather than just thinking he/she isn't stupid enough to do something like this) for credit reports.
