Missed payment...>Sort of

So I was expecting a pretty decent increase in scores this month. Instead, I pulled Trans Union and my score tanked 40 points! One of the things listed that is bringing my score down is my last missed payment was one month ago! Is it possible for MyFico to be wrong? Because I haven't missed a payment in over 3 years and I can't find a single thing on the report about a missed payment except that it's the reason my score went down? I Don't get it. Do I need to pull the score again or something? Are there ever errors?

Every now and again, this hiccup occurs on TransUnion reports.

Try calling Customer Service and ask if they can see anything on their end:

I'm at work right now. I will call wheb I get home. Just wanted to ask a couple questions. So this is an error on Trans Union's part. right? Is the report really showing a missed payment or will it correct itself? If a lender pulled my reports would they see the same thing I did? Is there anyway to get MyFico to let me pull a report again (free of charge) to see if they fixed it?

This same thing happened to me a few months ago - I lost 55 points!! Smiley Surprised I almost DIED!  I had not missed a payment (haven't missed a payment in well over 2 years) and couldn't believe it.  Someone told me that occasionally there is a blip of some sort - and that within a few days it should straigthen itself out.  It did exactly that - but during those few days I was a wreck!

How did you find out it was just a blip? Did you pull your score again? I really don't want to keep spending the money to see if this fixes itself.

Did you have a chance to call CS? They're great about giving you a free report when something strange like this happens. At any rate, they might be able to confirm that your reports are clean.

It would also be a good idea to pull your full TU report directly from TU or via annualcreditreport.com, if you're due a freebie. Again, don't pay for any scores, though. They'd be FAKO's.

Someone I know had the same thing happen - and they were told that it does occasionally happen.  I was skeptical at first, but prayed they were right.  I did pull my report and score again (and had to PAY again) about a week later and it had gone back up.  I hadn't even thought of calling to see if I could get a free report - but now that it's mentioned - I would try that route first to save money.

Re: Missed payment...>Sort of

So I didn't call customer service. The reason why is I think it is an account I have that is reporting wrongly. Or rather, they updated to report something incorrectly. I have a charge of from 2004. They have been updating as charged off every month since then. All of a sudden, I noticed they just changed the date closed from August 2004 to September 2009. Does anyone know if this would show up as a missed payment? Seems to me that it would have that effect.
