Name change=score drop

I received an alert today that my score changed. Logged on to see that my Equifax score dropped 4 points, due to a name change. I did see that they were using my maiden name and updated it, but why would it cause my score to drop? There shouldn't be any other factors that would decrease my score, I'm currently paying a credit repair company and there's nothing new negative!
I'm so frustrated!!!

Re: Name change=score drop

The name change in and of itself does not cause a the score to change. Have you opened  or been added to any accounts since you changed your name. IE accounts that would not have your maiden name on it? If so that is most likely the cause of the score change.
