Nearly 100 pt difference??

Hello all!

I had my mortgage lender pull my scores for my loan and I have found that Equifax is significantly lower than the other two.  My EQ score is showing at 602 while Transunion is showing 686 and Experian is at 693.  I have looked at my Equifax report and it looks identical to my TU and Exp.  What's up with that??

Re: Nearly 100 pt difference??

Hi Jen,

That can be so frustrating!

DH also has a 100 point difference in scores but there are differences on his CR.

In fact, his TU report (not just score) is different than his EX which is different than his EQ.

Same for me - none of my reports is identical to another.

In fact, one account I thought was reporting identically on all three was in fact reporting closed on one CR and open on the other two.  I didn't decipher this until looking closely at the reports for months.

If your mortgage lender gave you copies of the report, they are likely all combined into one report and somewhat difficult to decipher.

Have you considered pulling your free annual credit reports?  They are nicely detailed and are more easily compared than the mortgage lender's version.

And even if the reports are identical (which is quite unusual), the scores will vary somewhat because each CRA has their own tweaks on FICO.  But a 100 point difference means that it's highly likely that there are some differences on the report itself.

Aside from the frustration that comes with your situation, the good news is that the lender is probably using your middle score - so the low score on one CR may not be a deal breaker.

Others will chime in with their two cents, and give you some helpful insights, I'm sure.

Yes, because they are going by my middle score, the EQ score doesn't really matter.  I'm just curious.  I guess I will have to take a closer look at my EQ report, like you said it could be one account reporting differently.
