Re: Need some help after identity theft

EQ has been having some issues lately.  I've been able to login or request reports in the past but the last couple of months they've been acting up and wanting an ID Affidavit of sorts.

Then again I might have done it to myself by disputing off a lot of old personal info to clean up some of the identity questions I've been getting from apps recently.  I scrubbed TU/EX as welll and don't have the same issue there so, leads me to believe EQ is just being stubborn.  Not to mention they're still getting hammered from the breach from a couple of years ago.

I think the issue you're running into though is lack of reporting from creditors i.e. banks for the past few years.  It might take a SSL or secured card reporting for 6 months to get things up and running again.

Re: Need some help after identity theft

Obscure-expert, thank you!

So I know this may be against what y'all here do, but I have worked hard to be 34 and to own my own business and be debt free after having my identity stolen!

While I am never planning on getting a loan of any kind my concern is strictly trying to keep a valid credit score for the "what if's" in life lol

I just don't understand this and can't find any references online anywhere with the same issues!

If I can see the payments all the boxes in my credit reports are green from the 1st month I started the service with my rental apartment (March 2016) and it shows "open" trade line "line of credit" and its been reported since 2016 until May 2019. Has balance $0 but says open, paid on time never late.

There is also still $660 from this person that stole my identity's collections(medical bills) that I REFUSE to pay and these debts shows up on EQ and TU as well as the open line of credit aka "trade line"..shouldn't there be a score of some kind with at least those 2??

I'm getting NO WHERE with calling all 3 bureau's support people and they all point the finger and blame another one this is MADDENING! I mine as well just let that stupid girl keep my identity and saved myself all that work of paying off her 300k in debt and having to get her fingerprints taken off my SSN and name etc!

Re: Need some help after identity theft

While it would seem you would have a CS / FICO you don't have bank initiated TL's that are reporting.  Utilities i.e. rent don't count outside of the enhancements / boosts that have just been formulated within the last 12 months.

You need something along the lines of an SSL which can be as low as $500 and pay it down immediately to 8.9% or lower to generate a score and score an installment point boost in the process.  Then after you generate a score you can look into CC's whether secured or not.

I understand the frustration of the time, effort, and money put into killing off your dopple ganger but, neither of you have initiated TL's that report and generate a score.  If the theif has stopped trying to use your reports for her own gain then it's time to start being you again and initiate some credit transactions to get where you thought you were already.

While Alliant doesn't do it any longer there are other CU's that do.  For instance JFCU offers a similar product where you can use the same technique.

If you need help finding a CU or bank that offers it Google is a good resource... if you want to bounce and idea off someone come back here Smiley Wink
