Negative Balance

Hello,

I've been trying for the past 2 months to have a negative balance on my credit card account.
Right now, my statement shows that the CC company owes me ($2) dollars.

I got it to be this way since they allow you to pay 5% extra on top of your amount due.
How does that affect the credit score / credit usage?

I'm using less than 0% of my credit right now, will they report it as 0?
Thank you!

Re: Negative Balance

It will report as zero.  A negative balance doesn't affect your utilization any differently from a zero balance.

Re: Negative Balance

I have a "neg" balance on one of my US Bank cards and it reports as a zero balance.

Re: Negative Balance

Chase and Barclay's always posted a negative balance as 0

Re: Negative Balance

I frequently have a negative balance for short periods of time because I like to pay in round numbers.  So for instance on bill-paying day the current balance on a card is 1179.63 I'll put $1200 into my bank's bill pay website.  Depending on whether new purchases hit that account before my payment does, it may have a small credit balance for a little while.

Also, if an account happens to have a zero balance in a given month, I'll pay $5.00 which again will be a small credit balance until my next purchase on that account.  Why, you might ask, do I pay five bucks when I don't owe somebody anything?  To simplify checking whether I've neglected any accounts.  At least twice a month I scan through my list of payees sorted by date of most recent payment, looking for accounts that I have not paid for a while.  With these token payments when there happens to be a zero balance, I make the sorted view much more convenient for me to scan.

Anyway, credit balances always get reported as zero on my credit reports.
