New account effect on age of credit average

I recently opened a new CC with 0% for 15 months and no transfer fees. I was planning to transfer a balance just for a month or so to avoid interest charges on a different card. I decided to go ahead and payoff the balance on the other card and now I'm concerned that I hurt my age of credit average by opening the new account. If I close that new account ($0 balance) will it still be figured in my age of credit average?

Welcome to the forums!

If you open a new account, your AAoA will typically drop.

If you then close the account, the account will still factor into AAoA until it drops off your reports, typically 10 years later.

The damage is already done. The hit for the inquiry, the drop in AOA, (age of accounts), and the hit for the new account.

So you may as well keep the card and use it to build a thicker, better credit file, not to mention the 0% interest!
