I have something on the order of 20k available credit right now where in February I was holding my breath about making a $200 airfare charge. Now, I just pay it in cash and if it's not "in the budget" I don't even consider making the purchase.
As I sit here reading, it occurs to me that the huge improvement in financial condition is far more telling than a FICO number. Having dug out of a financial abyss over the past four years I think I am just going to have to wait for the great healer to do its work.
So, gardening and geneaology will have to suffice. And I'll see if I can maybe pull 3-in-1 scores say, what? Twice a week?
(Right. The next time I can pull is tomorrow 2:03PM + 1 minute)
Still new to "the game," yanno?

My FAKO scores haven't changed in a year. FICO up 50-40-30.

I canceled SW and will only pull EQ before I apply for a mortgage. Its just too frustrating watching it go nowhere and being $13 lighter for my troubles.

I just canceled today as well. I never get alerts and when I pull my report my score is up. I'll just save the 9 bucks a month and just pull the report 1x per month.

Hmmm... pulling daily scores?
I do not know of a creditor who regularly updates reports to a CRA more often than monthly, for it cost them $$ to do so.  Even montly score pulls border on the extreme, IMHO.
And I never get anything resembling a timely SW alert.

Re: No SW alert after multiple paydowns...

Robert, some people are fixing their credit and our score changes rapidly. My scores have been increasing aprox every 10-14 days. Example: 5/4/08 eq 660,  5/18/08 eq 673. So yes, we want to see/pull reports often. And we expect sw to alert us when we have huge increases,

I'll admit it, I'm a daily puller. In some cases, it does make sense. For me, I've been very actively working with my lawyer in negotiating payment settlements with some of my creditors. In exchange for my aggressively paying my balance (overnight cashier's check), the creditor's have agreed to immediately (3 to 5 days) delete. I've been watching daily to see when they are removed so the removal date can be reported back to her.

Now that that process is over, I'm now playing it day-by-day to see when all of my CC balance pay downs report. As soon as they do, I'm off to my mortgage broker, banks, CU to search for a mortgage.

As for ScoreWatch (I have the EQ version), it seems very predictable to me. It always updates a day after I purchase my latest EQ FICO from myFICO. It's near perfect in this regard.

Back to the question raised by the OP. ScoreWatch alerts don't get triggered for balance decreases (or for account deletions or drop offs). It's really not a product designed for people trying to cleanup their report, repair their credit, or track every single little change to their FICO score. It really seems designed for folks concerned about credit fraud and/or identity theft.

See my post just after yours. ScoreWatch isn't designed to trigger on most events that raise your score (balance decreases, account drop off/deletion, etc). In your case (and mine), the best we can count on is the 7 to 10 day update. I do wish it was a fixed (and reliable) interval.

If you are a daily puller, then SoreWatch is totally unecessary..

I am a daily puller myself. Smiley Happy If I wasn't concerned about ID theft I wouldn't need to pull more than once a month. All of my accounts cut within a few days of each other.

Since I always keep my utilization between 1-2% and have only added 1 new cc in the past 8 months I know the only score changes I will ever see is through aging. That as we know takes a long time. So for me to pull scores anymore than a couple of times a year is a total waste of money.

Re: No SW alert after multiple paydowns...

It's very true that once the specific clean-ups are done, and you move into the wait and watch stage, TrueCredit will do the job for you. I'm about at that point myself, and I'm trying to force myself to pull * just * once a month, and then even less.

It's amazing how restless I am, waiting for something to happen! I think this is why people erupt into unplanned app-o-ramas: they've gotten so used to their reports continually changing that they're uncomfortable with putting things on auto-pilot.

FICO's: EQ 781 - TU 793 - EX 779 (from PSECU) - Done credit hunting; having fun with credit gardening. - EQ 590 on 5/14/2007

Re: No SW alert after multiple paydowns...

Hauling at this stage the applications are a function of boredom and addiction for me. With over 100K available what earthly use was a 5K Citi DP to me? Smiley Happy To top it off I apped to AMEX and Patelco both declined adding two more 25 month EX inquiries to my report. Smiley Sad
