Nothing I do is helping my score!!!

I thought once I paid down my cc balances I'd see a huge jump in my credit score, but I've paid everything down to less than 9% from around 80-90%  and....nothing.  I also got on as an AU on another account that was 30 yo....nothing.  A CO is now showing as 'paid in full'...nothing.  Collection deleted...nothing.  When something is reported isn't your score updated right away?  I just don't understand how my score has not changed one bit by paying all of those cc's off.

  1. Are we talking about FICO scores purchased from here, myFICO?
  2. When did you pay down your credit cards? Was it before or after the statement date? Do your credit reports show the current paid down balances?
  3. Is the AU card actually reporting to the credit bureaus? What is the credit line, and what is the balance?
  4. Other than what you've included (above), what other baddies are on your reports?

The CO now reporting as paid won't help your credit score. Paid, or unpaid, it's going to hurt. Your FICO credit score is dynamic, changing as the information changes. And, FICO has no memory. It weighs whatever is on your credit reports *right now*.

Re: Nothing I do is helping my score!!!

I have myFICO score watch which has not alerted me to a change in score.  I also have USAA where I can pull all three CR's.  I've been pulling them daily to see if there are any changes on my report.  Yesterday my CC's reported a balance of 0 where they were reporting balances the day before.  The AU is reporting to the CRA's it has a $22,000 limit with $4,000 balance.  A couple of my cards were closed by grantor, does that take available credit out of the loop?  I did have around $10,000 CL combined on my cards with a $500 balance now between two of them.  I also had a 60 day late in December, but it was reporting when I originally found myFICO.  I'm trying to GW that, but it's Chase and they have not been very helpful.  I'm not sure what else to do.  I've tried GW'ing the CO trying to get it removed, but they've never been cooperative about anything so I'm not sure that will work either.

Maybe I should just take the plunge and post what's going on with my CR and see what advice I can get?  I'm trying to raise my score to purchase a house and hadn't realized it had tanked so badly...

Thanks for your help

Re: Nothing I do is helping my score!!!

If your reports have just posted the balance drop. score watch doesn't see this right away.  SW sort of takes a "drive by" of your reports every 7 days or so.  In SW here on myFICO, get to the settings tab & make sure your target score is set as your current/last reported FICO score.  SW will alert you as soon as the score changes + or - .  Double check that setting & give it a few more days.

Re: Nothing I do is helping my score!!!

Thanks, myFICO score watch is set to my current score so hopefully it hasn't updated yet.  What was worrying me is that my USAA FAKO scores hadn't updated, I know they're not real scores but I thought I'd at least see a jump in them reflecting my lower util rate.

Re: Nothing I do is helping my score!!!

I check USAA daily and I can tell you first hand that it has no bearing on the my FICO score.  a few weeks ago my USAA "TU" score went down by 5 and when I checked MyFico the same day my TU score had gone up by 25 points.  Experian runs the USAA site so keep that in mind.

BTW, I have had plenty of sucess using the USAA/Experian online dispute system for my Experian CR.

Thanks, I'll try and dispute with them as well.  I called TU and disputed a collection over the phone and they deleted it, but the others are still reporting them.
