I opened a Synchrony Lowe's card account back in 2003 as part of a 18 month same as cash deal on flooring, but only used the card for the one purchase, always paid on time and eventually the account was closed in 2015 due to lack of activity. I also had an Amazon Synchrony account in 2014 for a $50 gift card SUB and I only used it for one purchase. That account was closed due to inactivity in 2017. I had one other Synchrony account (Lumber Liquidators I think) which was used for one purchase (same as cash deal) and then it closed in 2017 due to inactivity.
These three accounts have been reporting on my credit reports and obviously have been helping my score due to their age. But today I noticed that in TransUnion, all three are gone. I kind of thought that the Lowe's would drop off some time in 2025 once it reached 10 years closed, but I am surprised by the other 2. I guess I thought I'd get 2 more years of reporting out of them and help boost my score until 2027.
Is this "clean sweep" typical of Synchrony? Wiping all closed accounts at once regardless of their age? If so, this is really going to screw my score for a few years.

I'm in the same boat, I have two old, closed accounts that will age off in the next year or so. This will hurt my age metrics quite a bit. To offset this drop, I opened a ssl this year, which has been worth 30-40 points. I'm also planning to stay in the garden so I'll get a AoYA > 12 months boost.
It will be interesting to see what the other two bureaus report for you. I would think the ageing decision would be a bureau decision, not a lender decision.
I think it's odd that all of them were wiped out at the same time. The opening dates are decades apart and the closing dates are about 2 years apart.

Yes, that does seem to suggest it was Sych's hand.
I suppose a data furnisher can always delete its own tradelines, right? I think it's within their prerogative. You'd think it would affect all 3 CRAs in this case, though, right?
