Old delinquent credit still showing after 7rys? How do I get deleted?

Benifical Finance opened in 1999 and shows 4 30 day lates in 2000/2001.  Bank of America is 3/1997.  Do I just send a dispute letter?

You would need to check your states statutes of limitations and if they are past them then dispute them. They should actually fall off your report once they hit magic 7 year or 7 and a half year time limit.

If you have current copies of your cr that you recieved from the credit bureaus you can dispute them online as old, out of date. However, you can call the creditors as well. I haven't used a dispute letter yet though I have seen documentation that states it is just as good.(you can keep a phone log of your communication with them) I use the phone and ask them to either fax/mail me a copy of whatever the outcome is such as they will delete it. Try to get in touch with the person in charge of actually updating the bureaus. I think they keep them hidden but with persistence you can get this done. I have seen it update on mine in less than two weeks for the very same issue.

You refer to the date opened. The date they fall off is actually calculated from the date of last activity on the account.  If you opened in 1999 but shows pd and charge off as of 01/02, you still have a little ways to go looking at 08/09 for those to fall off.
