I'm on my way! Just added a couple new TLs. All I need is to be late this month and to dig up all my old skeletons to find a CA or two to report and I'm on my way.

Re: Our Forums' FICO High Achievers: Who has at least one FICO Score of 760 or above?

So I was a member on 11/16 when I last pulled my reports, but I'm fairly certain I'm not there anymore.

I opened a checking account at a credit union at the beginning of November, and hated the idea of the hard inquiry for only a checking account, so I got a credit card, that I didn't need or want, at the same time.  The Inquiry was on TU, but the new CC hadn't reported to any of the CRA's yet.

The only Negative on my EX was "Heavy use of credit"  Which makes no sense to me, because my util was 8% on both TU and EQ.

The Negative on TU was "Too many Accounts" Which I agree with.  I have 38 total accounts.  Now many of those are from when my Student Loans were sold and resold.  But many are also credit cards, my total open number? 13.  And if my memory is right: 6 closed CC's.

The Negative of EQ was "New Credit" And that was with it reporting my newest card as 9 months old, not less than one!

And then on 11/20 a mortgage lender pulled my credit so she could give me a better idea of what I can go for in March/April/May.

So I'm fairly certin I am no longer a member.  But maybe that will be different when I pully my scores in March.  Of course, a month later I'm going to have another inquiry for my mortgage lender again, so I probably won't be a member for long the next time I get in, either.

TU 760 - found out last night at my credit union.

Don't know about EX or EQ but it doesn't matter - my credit union will never use those two CRAs nor will my back-up bank, PNC.

Most people in these forums seem to focus on what it takes to get the highest possible Fico scores. From the very beginning I was fixated on achieving 800 or better. When my highest scores were in your range I thought the finish line was right around the corner but it wasn't. It took a few years more for at least one score to hit 801.

Although I have hit my goal, I didn't avoid having occasional balances on the way to that goal. I always kept in mind that having high scores was for the purpose of obtaining credit whenever I wanted to. Since the start of my rather brief (under 9 year) credit history, I was able to continually make more money because of my good credit scores.

I knew that when I used credit to obtain loans my FICO score could go down. I did not let that stop me from making money by occasionally taking 0% offers or using CCs to leverage other opportunities to profit.

Once I hit 801 Fico on Experian, I knew that I can now return to 800 in short order in the future. I know that I am not barred from the achievement by an "age of oldest tradeline".

From now on the only reasons to have scores of less than 800 for me would seem to be for reasons that I would have control over. I can always do something to remedy any "score reasons" other than age of credit file being too short.

I still receive the age too short reason even though I now know that my age is sufficient to obtain 800. How can it actually be a valid reason  for FICO to generate when my score dipped to 790? The reason the score went down was obviously for other reasons. My age of oldest account did not get shorter.

The Feds say that credit bureaus must provide "reasons" for scores being at a certain level. There is no requirement that the reasons be correct.

I have come to consider FICO scores as a range that is comfortable for me. For instance I would now be content if my scores do not go below 760 no matter what I do. I would be content if I had your highest sig scores since I would know I could get back to 800 any time I wanted to. When my highest scores were 770 I simply tried to stay above 750 no matter what temporary score loss I might incur.

I have only five open and two closed tradelines.

I would gladly trade your thick file for my own (a few years from now) assuming I can pay off all balances anytime that I want to. The fact is that when you reach 800 you will loose less points than I would when we perform the exact same Fico score reducing act.

When my two installment loans age off in ten years, you will just be chugging along with bullet proof 800+ Fico scores and plenty of seasoned accounts. You can close tradelines or add tradelines and not have much of a score impact at all. Three or five inquires a year would cause an exclamation of  "Opps ...fell below 820 by a few points"!

Enjoy your success. You are an inspiration to many.  Smiley Wink
