I recently had my FICO score raised to 840! I destroyed my credit rating when I was young and it's hurt me beyond belief. But now I have people contacting me wanting to give me credit. It feels good to feel like a responsible adult. I plan to never go thru a down period like that again. And hope everyone here has great luck with their credit!!
When I joined MyFICO, scores as shown in October. Then through various apps and BT that were moving around since last summer, the scores hit a low point in the March time frame at around 700 each. Since then I've stopped apping, last app was AMEX Hilton and then Best Western flyer in late April, have been paying down balances consistently, and finally at the end of May, the true balances started to line up after some other BT changes settled. I also started a PLOC last year with my local CU, borrowed and have been paying that down, so that TL is helping now also.
Since May 23, my scores have taken off:
EQ TU EX
May 23: 714 720 724
June 21: 750 760 764
Change: +36 +40 +40
And that is with 16 open and 2 closed CC reporting balances. The main thing is the reduction in utilization, and some aging of INQ.

Congrats on the 840!
If you're not planning on applying for anything in the near future, do yourself a favor and put a credit freeze on your file at all three CRAs. I'd gotten to 850 / 848 / 849 and I put off adding a freeze. Sadly after suffering from identity theft plus a combination of really bad timing and some massive incompetence on the part of American Express I'm sitting at 826 / 816 / 806.
Stats vary greatly but between 2 to 7% of Americans experience some sort of identity theft every year. A lot of that is bogus credit card charges which don't cause any real harm to account holders but if you're unlucky enough to get hit with one of the more serious types it could hurt.
You've earned that 840, now defend it.
You should be excited, you have every right to be!!! Congrats! Keep up the good work!

my citi equifax says 801 as of 5/26 (for some reason the free citi score has a pretty delayed update).
i have no inquiries on equifax, so that makes sense. and makes me think my transunion score would be up there too if my inquiries fell off.
very excited

it says on the Citi page where my score is
"Congratulations – You have an exceptional FICO Score." pretty sure that phrasing might be new but i can't remember
Just dicovered a benefit of countersigning a student loan with Sallie Mae - Free quarterly FICO
FICO® Score 8 based on TransUnion - 829. Not bad considering all the inqus associated with a new mortgage and moving!
Just yesterday I broke the 760 mark for the first time in my life. My scores were in good shape as a 20 year old (mid 700's, I think I peaked right around 750) - learned responsible credit from my father. Then disaster stuck while in college and I went without a job for several months. Scores tanked, UTL went up over 95% for years, and I added a couple collection accounts.
Now as a 28 year old, I started this year, in January, with scores around 650 - fast forward to today and my scores are EQ: 758, TU: 782, EX: 768. I was able to clean up the collection accounts and get my UTL down to 16% after being extremely frugal for several tough months. After a couple more months, I should be credit card debt free (remaining CC debt all on 0% promos).
Just cracked 760 this morning. Highest I've ever been.
Smart going, Uek and Kitt. Keep up the good work by monitoring your own spending.
When you start looking around for a house, Kitt, be aware that shopping around for lenders will lower your scores. Check out lender reviews before making a decision on which one to choose.

This is not a contest or competition to see who has the highest FICO scores. Rather, I'd like to see which Forum members are FICO High Achievers. Who has at least one FICO Score of 760 or above?

EX: 832; TU: 799, EQ: 818 as of today, 21 years oldest, 11 AAoA, 4% UT. good mix 1 Mort, 1 Auto, 7 Major, 5 Retail, Countable INQs (in order of FICOS to the left): 1/4/3; Total INQs: 3/7/2.
TU is and will likely always be lower due to the CU not reporting to TU (EXP/EFX only). I've requested them to do it countless times but it seems "local" CUs, at least around here, do not report to TU. Now if they DID, I would speculate TU would align with the others.
As you said 7 years ago OP, it's not about a contest . If anything, it's something to be VERY proud of to see that needle on the "Exceptional" side. Achievement: ABSOLUTELY! Bragging - Nah... All that matters is if & when I need something, I KNOW I can get it.
