Congratulations on your 791 EQ score! It's great to see such a high score.
You're going to have to change your name to "tryingtoreach800."
With the extinction of the Experian credit score, I thought it wise to pull my scores, since I hadn't checked them since last year. And I'm glad that I did!
03/01/04--EQ 739 / TU 659 / EX 675
01/12/07--EQ 755 / TU 746 / EX 759
05/15/08--EQ 758 / TU 785 / EX 747
And today, when I pulled them:
02/10/09-- EQ 797 / TU 802 / EX 844
Last year, I decided to buy a car, and was trying to figure out whether to take a loan on it or pay for it in cash. After looking at my credit reports, I found that my scores were lowered due to not having had any installment accounts since I paid off my student loans in 2003. So, I put most of the money down and took a 2 year loan for $11K. In May of 2008 when I pulled my report, Experian really dinged me for having a revolving account with more than 35% left to pay. I now own only $2K on the loan and it looks like EX has really jumped my score due to this. Awesome!
Now it is EQ that is dinging me for having opened a new account 12 months ago. Yup, the auto loan that I took out specifically to boost my credit score! I swear. You can't win.
Not that I'm complaining. I'll be sad to not see my Experian score anymore though.
Wow bulbisaur--that EX score is out of sight.
If I may ask a few questions. What is your average age of account? Oldest account? etc
Congrats!
Thanks, cobaltnv!
Since EX doesn't seem to list this info, I'll take it from EQ:
Average Age of accounts: 12 years
Oldest account opened: 18 years, 11 months ago (I'm 37 years old)
Ratio of Revolving balances: 1%
Revolving accounts balance: $1,848
Installment loans: $2,049
Total # of accounts: 26 (another says 33)
Accounts w/ balances: 3
Credit history length: 18 years
Total past dues: none
Accounts opened in past year: 0 (auto loan was mid-Jan 2008)
Recent Inquiries / Collections / Public Records: 0
Obviously, most of my accounts haven't been used in over 10 years. In fact, I really don't know what most of them were for! I think 1-time department store discounts, etc. I wanted to close them but took the advice here and left them open.
I did have a public record from a stupid Maryland state tax lien that was too frustrating to go into. That fell off sometime between May and today. It was only showing on EX as of last May (couldn't get it removed there.)
Hope this helps!
