What a great thread! My current scores are:
TU: 789
EQ: 784
My goal is to continue learning from the great posts on this forum to reach the 800 club in about three months. Last Monday I was approved for the First Command Platinum Visa, so that will probably change my scores somewhat, but I will be reducing my utilization ratios (currently 6%) to only reporting one card with a balance (Amex > 4%) and paying the others well before their statements cut. This should balance out my level and get me close.
It's great to see all of the replies and postive feedback going out to all.
Hi FocusOnFICO!
We're so happy to see you posting here! You're scores are fantastic: Congratulations!
Please keep us updated on your score progress!
Mr. Moderator, first of all, thank yoy ever so much for such valuable, I am fairly new to all this and it is important for me to make the right decisions. It can seem overwhelming sometimes ( now I know how a virgin feels on rodeo night).
So I'm ready to bite the bullet by checking my FICO score and I know that this can be done through this web site. On the home page is the offer to check my Fico and credit scores with the two available bureaus, is that the correct one two follow?
Again, thank you for the guidance and advice.....and don't forget the new Star Trek starts today!!

Buying my tickets now.
Drum roll please!! I bit the bullet and the results are in. My FICO score is 721 !!!!
What's hurting my credit....credit history 3yrs 10 mths (only been living in the USA 5 years)
Average age of accounts 2 years
Accounts with missed payments 1 account
Ratio of revolving accounts 12% BUT...this one is reflecting a balance paid two weeks ago, so that should help slightly
S not too bad for a young buckaroo to achieve 721 huh
God bless MYFICO and the moderator for the guidance, now my dream for my home is alive again, next step....3 rum and cokes this evening!!!
@mx6bfast wrote:Back in September 2002 I had a score of 777 with credit history of only 7 years. Since then I've gotten married and we have had major credit issues that were not always a result of our doing. We tried to get our $20k of stock money that was tied up in a court battle for 2 years and we only got just under $6k of it. I don't know how bad our credit score actually got but now we are back up to 639 from 622 (July 2008) (was 650 in August before auto loan approval). We have a 4 year plan to get back up to that level again and pay off all debts, including student/auto loans except mortgage.
So count me as been there, hope to be back in the club. I saved that printout from 2002 for motivation.

Today I did the free trials of credit scores at Experian and TU. Ended up with scores of 713 & 705 respectively. I honestly was very surprised by how much it jumped, I expected to maybe be in the 680's. All of this with a 5% pay decrease in January, wife off work for nearly 3 months starting in February with pregnancy complications/maternity leave and no income (now back at work), and double daycare costs and new hospital bills coming in. It has been tough and we still have more tough times ahead, but we are on our way to getting back to where we want to be. It's possible we can get there by the time we might move to Florida in 2 years.
I'm stoked!!
OMG,
I almost fell off my computer chair. I just pulled new scores for TU (813) and EQ (814). I am now in the 800 club. I may never know what my EX score is.
Never really paid the FICO game by paying off my CCs before the stmt date. Well, last month I figured, why not? I wanted to see if my scores moved. Never thought I would break through 800 with a new CC opened in November, 2008.
So, for the record, I have 12 accounts on TU and 11 accounts on EQ. EQ dropped off an old mortgage a couple of months early. I had three accounts report balances: mortgage, car loan, and 1 CC. My oldest tradeline is 20 years and 4 months (Amex), and my AAoA is 9 years even.
I am very happy... OK, I just had a birthday last month, so maybe good things come with advancing age.
Thanks, HTSU.
I am thinking of refinancing my mortgage. Just wanted to see if I could tweak my scores. Now, will the mortgage rates keep going down? Hmm...
Finally hit 800! I bought a condo last year and I suspect the addl mix of credit helped boost my scores.
EQ: 801 TU: 788
EX: 794 (11/08)
