Question About Credit Score

So my credit score is fairly new, about 4 months now. I've noticed that it keeps going up and down though. Just last month my score was at 625 and this month (January 2015) it went down to 603. The only companies that have my social are my two credit card companies (Chase/Discover) and my phone provider Sprint. I make sure I pay my bills on time, never have been late, and I always pay more than what is due. Does anyone have an idea on why this may be? Something I should know about or research? My social is fairly new as well about 2 years old so I highly doubt it has to do with someone using it.

Re: Question About Credit Score

First off, which score are you referring to (which scoring model and with which CRA as the source)?  Your FICO's are based on these factors:

Scores are based on the data in your reports.  Without knowing the data in your reports and how it's changing it is impossible to say what the cause would be.  You would need to compare reports before and after a change to determine the cause(s).

One possibility is that your revolving accounts may be reporting balances that cause your reported utilization to go up and down.  Most credit cards report on statement date.  Even if you pay in full if you have a balance on that date then that balance is reported to the CRA's.  However, there are certainly other possibilities as well.

Sprint isn't relevant aside from a hard pull if you incurred one when opening your account (and if the hard pull is still on your reports and still has impact) or any derogs that you might have.  The carriers do not otherwise report to the CRA's.

Dont' overlook the Understanding FICO Scoring subforum as a resource as well.

Never assume.  If you haven't pulled your reports to review them then do so and make sure you continue to do so on a routine basis.

Re: Question About Credit Score

Just off the top of my head, with what little info given, I would geuss the culprit is most likely changing balances reporting on your credit cards.
