Question about adding me as a AU to someone's CC

I am reading all this discussion about AU getting a huge spike in their credit report by having themselves added to someone's CC. If I have a 624, my goal is a 700+ by the end of the year, and my fiance has a 717, I understand that my score could go up about 20 points if she added me as an AU, but what happens to her score? Does it go down, up or stay the same in the process?

I'm reading the there are two benefits to this practice -- parents trying to help their children build credit or someone needing a quick fix to get a good APR. Now I'm reading this is all going to change, does anyone know when?

Lots of questions. Thanks so much!

Re: Question about adding me as a AU to someone's CC

It depends on what all is on your credit report. I got a +50 on Equifax and a +15 on Experian. I also got a +0 on TransUnion. TransUnion is my lowest score and it shows a Collection account unlike the other two. It also has a lot of inq. I believe those are the reasons why it didn't change.
I also filed for bankruptcy 2 years ago, but that didn't seem to change my +50 on Equifax a bit.
The AU account is 12 years old with no lates.
It also depends on the age, credit limit, % usage, and no lates on the account for your boost of score.

The AU account will not hurt the person giving you the au. Also...one of the 3 CRA will stop scoring AU in Sept. And the other 2 will stop sometime in 2008.

Come to think of it,....TransUnion hates me with a passion.
