Question about "Codes" that tell what is impacting our credit scores

In several conversations here, I've seen mention of "codes" that specifically identify what is impacting our scores. Where does one see these "codes"?

I'm thinking from what others are saying that these "codes" must give more specific information than the often vaguely worded factors shown sitting on a "weighing scale" with your score.

Am I missing something?

Thanks for the quick reply.

OK, I understand the creditors report the codes to the CRA. Are the codes that are reported on our accounts available to us as consumers?

Depends on where you can get a copy of the report. I just was doing a refi a mo ago on a heloc and Ditech sent the copy of my CR w/ the codes and a page that  listed the codes w/ an explanation. I think that is the best way to get one.
