Question regarding charge off

Hi forum! First I'd like to say you guys are wonderful taking time out of your day to help answer some questions! I've been lurking through the rebuilding forum and it's helped bring my scores from the high 400's to high 500's in about 3 months yay!

I got all of my baddies removed for one, a half paid charge off from 2014. It shows as only being 1,156 but the real amount owed was around 6k. I was planning on paying it off overtime but liquidated some assets and am planning on paying in full next week.

This charge off has reported as charged off since 2014, when its updated to paid will it start tracking my payments as positive for the month starting from then or will it go back to my actual revolving accounts opening (only new accounts from feb/march, old accounts in good standing but closed)?

My current aaoa ranges from 3.5 years to 4.4, I'm planning on goodwilling this and seeing if I can get the TL deleted, would it be worth it? Obviously it would be one less baddie, but mostly from the impact of Aaoa. I'd like to eventually add Amex to my cards, but not sure if that would be possible as I've opened 5 new accounts in the past 3 months!

Re: Question regarding charge off

A revolving account that has been charged-off is almost invariably already closed to use by the consumer.

Creditors dont leave seriously delinquent accounts that they have charged off open to additional bad debt accrual by way of additional charges.

Once paid, you will no longer have monthly reporting of the account that will extend your payment history profile with positive reporting.

You will have a paid, closed account that will thereafter not update, and thus will not have updated reporting of an unpaid CO that will continue to keep your payment history score depressed.

Once the charge-off has become excluded at approx 7 years from DOFD, the CO will no longer affect payment history scoring.

Obtaining a GW deleiton prior to its exclusion date will remove it from payment history scoring earlier.

However, you normally would not want the entire account deleted, as closed accounts are also included in your AAoA calculation.

I would purse GW deletion of derogs reported on the account, and not deletion of the entire account, unless the age of the account is substantially less than your current AAoA.
