Re: Questions about the FICO score?

I really appreciate the advice. Sounds like a good plan to me.

Absolutely.  Let me know if there's anything else you have questions about or would like advice on!  I wish I knew this forum existed a decade+ ago and had a resource like this for credit advice.  I'm glad I found it though in 2016, as it's taken me from 619 scores to 830's, possibly my first 850 coming up in 2018...

Re: Questions about the FICO score?

So far I only use cards for purchases that I would normally pay via debit card, pay balance to zero on one and let the other one report a small balance. I am not purposefully trying to spend extra just because I want to show creditor I can pay it. I don't want debt. The biggest mistake I made was thinking that living debt free meant living credit free. I am trying to read as much as I can because the information on this forum is just not something that's readily available to general population .

That's 99% of what matters right there.

If you follow that thought process, you'll never incur any real "debt" and credit cards will only ever be an asset to you and never a liability.

Then you're already on the right track and don't need to do anything extra besides keeping up with this good habit. Smiley Happy
