REALLY MYFICO??? WOW

Today I  received an alert from myfico on TU report as NEW  ADDRESS. I of course freaked out because I haven't  moved and have lived at the same address for the last 15 years. The new address according to  myfico was an old adress I  lived at 18 years ago. I called transunion and they confirmed my address as my current one and they also confirmed that they have sent NOTHING to myfico. Sooooo I call myfico and the csr swore up and down that the new address is what TU has sent over. I again said that TU does not send anything  to myfico and that myfico is the one monitoring  the reports. She puts me on hold and after a few rounds of going back and forth she finally concedes that myfico  soft pulls our reports and reports to us the changes. I asked for a free report to make sure..she says no. I asked even though I have spent an hour of my time could my fico offer a free month of service. She says no. I then said cancel my subscription and instead of trying to retain me she says ok your subscription is canceled. Wow just wow. I am highly disappointed with myfico and they way my concern was handled.

To all those that think that it is the CBs that are sending over information....this is simply  NOT TRUE.

I hope this helps someone in the future. I will be looking  elsewhere for reliable  monitoring.

CRAs don't send the information to any company providing credit alert features. The company (such as myFico, CreditKarma, Credit Sesame, Credit.com etc) does a soft pull at regular intervals and compares the current information to the new report obtained from the CRA. If any changes exist, it alerts you of the change.

Now if you are saying that the information that TU has is different, the only way to find that out for sure is to pull a report directly from TU and another report from MyFICO. That will confirm that one is wrong vs the other. Simply talking to them on the phone is really not a solution or confirmation that the information is not the same.

Then you should read and understand  what myfico has been saying to their consumers. They are saying that the CBs report to myfico. This is not true. Read the myfico product feedback forum. The CSR from myfico told me SEVERAL times that TU reports to myfico. I received an alert  from myfico of a new address that I haven't lived at for 18 years a  NEW ADDRESS! This is exasperating!  I just looked at my TU report....my address has NOT changed.

Re: REALLY MYFICO??? WOW

Also remember that your monitoring is scanning 400 public record sites that may have detected an address associated with your ss#. Unfortunately their is not an old address detection field and it came in as a new address alert. If you are aware of the address no need to worry it was a simple detection that an address was found that may have came to surface. Sorry you expirenced poor customer service.

This alert was filed under transunion. As a NEW address. I just thought that myfico was an upstanding company that stands by their product. Misleading their consumers is not the way to gain consumers. Yes it is unfortunate and I really didn't  want to cancel. But after today I had no choice.

Re: REALLY MYFICO??? WOW

Right you your monitoring your TU data and fico score. Sound like you had the FICO Quarterly Monitoring which monitors identity as well that TU doesnt monitor in a way that myfico does. So if you got the address alert TU may not have gotten that alert either because TU gets updated information reported by lenders only they are not monitoring public record web sites for any information associated with your ss# to help protect Identity.

Re: REALLY MYFICO??? WOW

The alert was from myfico alerting me to a change in my TU REPORT. I  hope that clears some things up. Sorry if I didn't  make things clear.

...regardless of what the CSR told you, it is bogus information ...the CRAs DO send change updates to myFico ...the CRAs mark it as an SP ...if myFico were SP'g CRs from the CRAs every day and comparing them for changes, first they'd go broke (think about it) and second there would be no holes in what myFico reports in its alerts ...for instance, TU sends total balance on any change (read your 3b alerts) where as EQ and EX send individual account balances ...one CRA reports as new any tradeline that did not previously exist on your report ...another does not report it as new becuse it monitors the date opened (ala AMEX backdates) ...etc, etc, etc. ...if it were myFico pulling your CRs every day to catch changes, the alerts would be consistent across all three over time, they are not.

...I am certain of this because I had some interface with myFico during the 3B roll-out (which was VERY rough) ...you can also check the 3B sticky in the products forum which says essentially the same thing ...as for Credit Karma and Credit Sesame, afaik they are owned by the CRAs they rep and thus have ready access to their data

...if you got an alert from myFico that they say came from TU, you can dispute it directly on-line and as part of the process TU will show you your entire file on-line for free ...I did exactly that when myFico sent me an alert for a new account at some Fargo(sic) Bank i'd never heard of ...TU said it wasn't them, myFico said it was, I disputed and there was nothing in my TU on it ...some research showed it was a very old closed bank ...further search showed a couple other myFico users had the same experience ...I concluded that it was a standard test simulation that myFico developers use and sometimes forget to delete ...hth

I've seen "new" items added to my credit report by CCC that I applied, such as in-branch at US Bank. The term "new" refers to the CRA or the flow that gets you the notice, although it can be misleading if it then looks like it is at the top of the list. If you review your file, it may be that it was "updated" by some old account.

Sorry to hear about the confusion. I would not think a "new address" would be worth a major issue with the MyFICO folks, however, since it doesn't have any effect on your score.
