When you're rebucketed, does it happen simultaneously across all 3 bureau scores? Or, can you be rebucketed on only one and not the other two?
Certainly it can absolutely happen at one bureau but not another -- for the reason that your data at one bureau may be different from your different at another. Suppose, for example, that you have a chargeoff that appears on all three bureaus, which I will call derog X. And you also have a 5 year old chargeoff that only appears on EX and EQ but not TU. You have no other derogs. Right now you have at least one serious derog on all three reports, so you are in a dirty scorecard.
Next month, X turns 7 years old and falls off all three reports. Now TU has no derogs so you are moved into one of the 8 clean scorecards. But the other two bureaus still have the same significant derog, so they stay in the same scorecard.
That's just one example.
Thanks, I assumed so since each can report things very much differently. It just seems my EQ always lags behind the other two. TU is head and shoulders above, but it also has an older TL, and shows a much older credit history. I realize the "Credit at a glance" feature in the 3B reort isn't 100% scientific, but EQ and EX are basically identical yet EX is 30 points higher. Just seems like Eq is so much slower to reaqct to positive actions like paying down utilization etc.
Even with identical data with all CRAs, the scoring can still vary.
Each CRA licenses its own, custom flavor of the FICO algorithm depending upon its own view of scoring.
Whether or not that custom algorithm has different criteria for internal differences in the algoritn for a given category (i.e., buckets) is part of the proprietary algorithm, and is not publicy known. Chances are that bucketing is also custom.

Assignment to a scorecard is based on the information in that CRA report as CGID mentioned. CAPTOOL and Jamie have posted a couple good examples showing "re-bucketing" by some CRAs but not others. In both cases the rebucketing (or lack of) was associated with dirty file => clean file.
Thanks, I had stumbled on a similar comment in another thread this morning. It seems like My TU is a Ferrari, my EX is a Ford and EQ more along the lines of a VW Beetle with a suspect head gasket.
