Recent Experience With The Monster

It seems that in my bucket I need to let more than 1 credit card report a balance for optimum scoring. This was the first time I only let 1 card report. There were no other changes. TU listed one of three negative reasons as no cards used while one of my positives is listed as showing responsible use of credit. In my case the system had a problem differentiating between 1 and 0 cards reporting a balance. I had 1112 report on my Navy card.

So the damages on EX only letting 1 revolving line plus my car loan report out of a total of 8 accounts was a move down from 717 to 705. TU damage was 731 to 719. This is easily rectified.

Hope this helps someone.

I find this one of the most annoying features of the scoring. I believe the CCC also reports your high balance for the month, so even if the end balance is $0, that ought to factor into usage. I pay mine down almost immediately after incurring the charge, as I want to avoid EVER having a late payment.

The game is easily played if you don't charge too much. In my case I wanted to see what the effects would be if I only let one card report. So until at least as long as I have 1 public record showing I need to let at least 2 cards no more than 3 report balances. FWIW I used all of my cards last month. Just only let 1 report though.

That is very useful info smallfry, it is unusually that different ratios of cards reporting imply varying levels of risk across buckets.

Wow!
I guess it is true that the higher your score the harder the hit....
