Reporting Timeframes

I've been playing around a little with my utilization to see the impact on my scores. Unfortunately, I have also had some successful apps and other activity and it's kind of skewed my project. Anyway, I let a large balance report with Cap One and have 37% utilization. I did see a dip of a few points, but not as bad as i thought it would be. I paid in full and am waiting for that to report. At that same time, I closed my Platinum card and rolled that limit into my QS. It's been almost two weeks now and I'm not seeing the balance change. I got notifications for the inquiries, the paid/closed Platinum card, and the new accounts. What is the holdup with the new lower balance reporting? I should now be at less than 10% and was hoping to see a bump up. I should mention I paid the card well in advance of the due date and it definitely posted with them.

Any thoughts?

Re: Reporting Timeframes

The other events that you mentioned would have triggered new reporting but as far as your balance goes, most CC companies just report once a month, not when you make your payment.  I feel your pain though!  I am impatiently waiting for my balances to update so that I can pull my mortgage scores.

Re: Reporting Timeframes

Yes, frustrating. The new statement cut with the reduced balance so it should have triggered something. Still waiting....

Re: Reporting Timeframes

What date do they usually report? If it's the 19th every month usually (for example) there's no reason that would be any different this month. Of course the day of the week that it falls on can matter, so seeing a shift of +/- a few days is to be expected.

Re: Reporting Timeframes

Give them a call and let them know that they usually report on or about the 7th, but this month you did not see the account updated on the 3B.  Request that they report now for the month.  It's 50/50 on whether or not they'll do this, but it's worth a shot.
