SO confused about Negative Indicators...Please help!

I have an account from LVNV (CA) on my credit reports.  On both EQ and TU MyFico reports - it is listed under "Accounts", not "Collections".   When I open up the account details, it's status is marked as "120 Late" and under description it's listed as "Collection". The account balance was $843, and was recently paid off, and will be reporting $0 Balance Paid in Full soon.

I have disputed this account, and although the dispute is resolved, the comment is still there (I know I have to call and have it taken off).

What I dont understand is why there is no negative indicator flag on the account at all.  Is is because of the dispute comment?  I was under the impression that CA's are NOT taken out of scoring even if there's a dispute comment.  The only place there is a negative indicator flag is on the "Credit At-A-Glance" page, under "Total Past Due" - it's still reporting the $843.

I hope this isn't too complicated...I'm just confused...

Anyone?

Is it ok if I move this post over to Rebuilding?  Maybe I'll get more responses there...

You're good...

If there's a dispute comment showing, I'm guessing it is still being fully scored as a CA because of the collection comment. It's also internally coded as a CA and FICO continues to score these while in dispute.

My answer would be different if you saw a very large gain once the dispute comment appeared, followed by a large drop when verified. Overall, your score should not have changed when disputed and when you paid (on this TL alone.....assuming nothing else happened on your reports to cause a score change).

ETA....start GWing like mad.

Thank you SO MUCH!

I called LVNV and they are removing the "consumer disputes" comment, so we'll see what happens.

I've been GW'ing like crazy with no success as of yet.  I just keep getting "we dont delete because that would make the entire credit reporting system inaccurate and the country depends on it..."

Re: SO confused about Negative Indicators...Please help!

I heard of lvnv playing games by reopening accounts not as collection account but open accounts. They do this by claiming to be a factoring company and debt gets reaged. This is big no no. If they are doing this to you, screw Gw. Create paper trail and then go after them with state af, bbb, etc.

Crashem - that's exactly what they're doing to me.  I'm arguing with them right now over it..

Everyone keeps saying not to worry that FICO sees it as a collection anyway, but they dont.  If I dispute a Collection on my report - my score does not change, as FICO scores CA's under disputes.  Whenever I dispute LVNV, my score ALWAYS goes up, and when the dispute comment comes off, it drops again.  They're reporting as an open account..

SOOO frusturating...

Re: SO confused about Negative Indicators...Please help!

Create your paper trail.  Only communicate with them via paper.  Basically DV, etc with them.  Once you have nice paper trail, do what I said before, complain to state AG and BBB and anyone else you can.  The fact is that you don't have a contract with them and they are collection company and not a factoring company.  They have been busted for this multiple times.

From another forum:

"LVNV will sandbag the BBB until the dispute is closed. I wouldn't waste my time with the BBB. I spent a couple years fighting with LVNV until I wised up. File complaints with the Attorney General of LVNV's state, as well as your home state AG. They folded immediately for me on an old repo account showing a $17k charge off. Was off all 3 reports in less than 30 days."

A quick google search about filing complaints with State AG office.
