Hello fico world can someone please move this post to the correct place .. I wanted some advise either on applying for a few cards or just wait thank u

Sounds like you should head to the CC forum.  As a vast generalization though without knowing anything about your file, 9 times out of 10 if someone asks a "should I app or wait" question my advice is to wait.

Re: Score bump when AoYA reaches 6 months?

I want to make a update to something that I stated earlier. I said the age of oldest account could be between 12 and 17 years I need to revise that to between 6 and 17 years. There is some evidence that it could be as low as 6 years. (sjt I wanted to make sure I corrected that because the information I gave earlier wasn’t accurate. The demarcation line can be as low as six years, we don’t know for sure.)

Also speaking of AOYA awards at three and six months on thin files, I’ve been thinking about this long and hard and I don’t think it has anything to do with AOYA.

I think it has something to do with establishing three months and six months of age on a new revolver on a thin file, maybe viewed as establishing payment history.

Actually discussed this in another thread as well.

Hello all,

A couple of days ago, I applied for a Discover card.  Before the inquiry hit my report, my EX FICO 8 was 757; the inquiry dropped it to 740 (lower than I expected, unfortunately).

This morning, my score had risen to 747, with the only change being my AoYA hitting 6 months.  Is this to be expected?  I though that there was a boost when the AoYA reached 12 months, but didn't realize there was one beforehand.

I have a thin file, with only one open account and a 5% utilization.

Thanks.

Thanks for the data point. We don't know for sure but that increase at 6 months sounds right to my ear.

BM, can you elaborate a bit more on what you mean regarding the low-end of AoOA being 6 years?

Re: Score bump when AoYA reaches 6 months?

Here’s one link where TT indicated it’s greater than five. There are some other links let me search for them.

Re: Score bump when AoYA reaches 6 months?

BBS, or anyone, is there a function on here to display a list of the files that we previously read in chronological order?

BBS As you can see TT said it’s over five years, perhaps 10. I also read a couple threads recently and, in at least one, it seemed like there was no other possible reason for someone’s score changes than a scorecard reassignment and the only thing that had changed was the age of their oldest account becoming six years.

By no means am I stating that that is the threshold, as no one knows, but I must include it in the range because it is a possibility.

I would love to have some people with their age of their oldest account turning six with nothing else going on and see this recur and watch for score changes across different flavors and variants.

I think it would be awesome if we could find out, but it’s no easy feat; they’ve been trying since it came out.

Meanwhile I’m looking for that thread for you I’d like you to read it and I’d love your opinion.

Good Morning!  Can you go into your browser History and scroll down to see? (if recent)

I use two different browsers and when I close them, they kill the history, I believe due to my settings.

And I would need a pretty long list because I’ve been through a whole bunch of pages LOL 😂

Re: Score bump when AoYA reaches 6 months?

I'd be glad to help you search if you tell me what to look for.  I found a few posts by TT but not sure it's them or his posts you were referring to.(ie. AAoA going from 6 years to under 5...that type of thing)  Anyway, enjoy reading yours and BBS post, still way over my head but hopeful to learn more through you.  Lemme know, I'll help.

Re: Score bump when AoYA reaches 6 months?

LauraC Thanks! And glad you enjoy the posts! I enjoy the forum so much myself!!

The post I’m looking for a member’s AoOA had turned six years and he had score changes across all variants and there was debate as to whether or not it was due to scorecard reassignment or another aging factor. I cannot remember whether or not TT chimed in.
