Score drop with no explination.

Hello All,

I'm hoping someone here has a little helpful informaiton.. I've been using myFICO.com for about 3 years, and around June of this last year (2015) my score dropped 31 points, with no explination on the alert, just that it was a "FICO Score Change"which dropped me from 726 to 695. I'm curious as to why this happens. I only have 2 credit cards and average 1% usage to available credit according to my last report, and the last missed payment was more than a year ago (from the drop) for a $13 charge that I didn't know about. I have an auto loan that's going to be paid off 2 years in advance that I've never missed a payment on. Nothing fell off my account, and nothing had been closed or opened for 2 years. I'm very confused as to why a score just drops. Anyone have any helpful advice? Thanks in advance.

Re: Score drop with no explination.

I am going to assume you are talking about your Eq score? It is challenging to know the reason w/o more information.

The two things that come to mind are:

Util - did you let a statement cut with high usage? In other words, did the CC company show a high balance to the CBs before you paid it off? Say the statement date is 1/1 and payment due dat is 1/15 - if you had 90% util on the statement date but paid it off before 1/15 the CBs will only see what the balance was, not what you paid until the next statement

The other would be AAoA, was there an old lingering account that fell off. Closed, clean accounts will stay for 10 years. If you had one, that may explain the drop.

Hard to tell w/o more data. Hope you figure it out

Good Luck!
