@Anonymous wrote:The advice to let your accounts age is good. Often people implicity mean some other things as well, which is to not apply for any new accounts, allow existing inquiries that are < 365 days old cross over to > 366, allow age of youngest account to cross to > 12 months, etc.
Here are the many factors that are helped by gardening:
AAoA
AoOA (Age of Oldest Account always increases as long as it is not a closed account that falls off).
AoYA (over 1 year will help you a good bit)
Percentage of your accounts that are > 1 year in age (even when your AoYA < 1, getting this percentage higher is still a help and it is not the same thing as AoYA)
Inquiries
I don't think we have a definite answer on whether your SSL is paid to under 8.99% and whether it is your only installment account (loans, car leases, etc.).
Yes my SSL was paid down immediately as per the instructions on the Alliant thread, it is also my only installment loan...
Average Age | 2 yrs 4 mos |
Oldest Account | 4 yrs 4 mos |
Latest Open Account | 6 mos |
Inquiries in Last Year | 1 |
8 Open accounts one closed (previous SSL non-Alliant)
Not sure where to find the rest of the info

I would comb over your reports with a fine tooth comb just to make sure there is not a stray Day 30 in there. I realize the high level summary tool at Discover (of which you showed us a screenshot earlier) suggests you have no lates, but summary pages can sometimes be mistaken, and it is valuable to pull the full report at each of the three bureaus and look at each account carefully just to be sure.
Assuming no lates, you'll likely experience quite a bit of help when your AoYA crosses 12 months.
The important thing to observe is, if your chief interest is in seeing your FICO 8's go up, then you already have an SSL and plenty of cards. You just need time.
Nope no derog information on either of the three bureaus.. Pulled up all three...
So yes.. it looks like I just have to wait..
Discover just had a nice graph of FICO scores i was using for an example...
So im basically waiting for the Citi card to age over a year I think....
