Help! Please someone who can answer this.....
There is a 140 point difference between EQ and TU. EX is closer to my TU score. BTW, I went to experians site and paid for their version of my fico, because of the difference in points on the others. EQ is the lowest, I have not applied for new credit in over a year, the reports are identicle except EQ is showing an old chargeoff twice. It was reported as one account which it actually was, until March of 09, then they changed it to show as two accounts. I have paid this debt and they reflect that info, but it is not 2 accounts. They (EQ) lowered my score by 50 points when they did this and I have been unable to get them to correct it. Even with a letter from the company.
Also, is there any truth to the fact that the credit unions are broken up by the area of the country your in. I am in Washington state and was told that all retail and personal loans were run through EQ exclusively. I just feel like EQ has it out for me paying accounts on time, paying off my truck and all this has only been reflected through the reports of TU and EX. EQ hates me!!
Welcome to the forums!
It's not uncommon for scores to be different, as each CRA has a slightly difference FICO scoring algorithm. Even if your reports were identical, your scores would probably be different to some degree. That being said, having those COs are definitely impacting your EQ score. If you haven't already, you should dispute the duplicate listing with EQ by mail, sending in the proof you've gotten from the company. If you've done that already and EQ has refused to correct this error, it may be time to enlist a consumer attorney. All that being said, that still seems like a large difference for that being the only difference, is there any other difference you may have missed? Is your AAoA the same on both reports?
However, the score that you bought on Experian's website is not a FICO score. Experian FICO scores are not sold to the public and are only available from a loan officer or if you're a member of Alliant Credit Union in PA. What you purchase is what is referred to around here as a "FAKO" score.
I would suggest reading through Credit Scoring 101 and What Steps Do I Take for more information.
Hi Joe,
Alliant does not provide EX scores anywhere. Its PSECU.
Ah! Sorry there Joe
I should have double checked.
