Scoring data points and AZEO

Just thought I’d post some data points I’ve noticed in regards to my credit.

Also can someone explain why I don’t get the greatest benefit from AZEO ?
Also why did my score drop 14 points for an AU card being paid off when I have other cards reporting balances.

This data only applies to EX, FICO 8 since that’s the only bureau I get scores from consistently. I only get the other 2 once a month.

I’ve noticed I get the highest score from having 4 cards report small balances.
3 of my cards and 1 AU account.

There were no other changes to my credit report except balances and the accounts aging. I’ve been doing some research over the past 3 months .

Starting score : 676

Jan 2017
I’ve tried letting all cards report Zero’s
Took a 21 point hit for that.
Ending score 655

2/13/2017
AZEO.
Reported balance $20 of 4K
Ended with 664. So 12 point hit

3/15/2017.
I let 3 cards report and my AU account reported a small balance
Card 1 : $85 of 5K
Card 2 : $56 of 4K
Card 3 : $26 of $200
Card 4 AU : $32 of 5K
Ending score : 678

Today:
The AU was chase and the account was paid down to zero. Nothing else has changed since the 15th of March.
So the 3 cards directly above reporting the same balances minus the AU account.
Score now 664.
14 point drop

Details:
AAoA : 2.3 Years
AooA: 8.10 Years
Newest account : 3.5 months
1 Collections : 2014 $670 (last updated 3/8)

Re: Scoring data points and AZEO

Interesting range of scores you are seeing.

In my opinion, any file with any baddie is going to be much less predictable for any particular scoring data point.

You have also triggered a yo-yo effect by letting all cards report zero. That initial shock to the score is taking some time to stabilize. Part of the score moves, even going to 4 accounts reporting, is the recovery by having something report, after nothing.

If you want to see the result of AZEO, it is best to stay consistent for a time, then gradually work into how much reports on each account. At the rate you have changes going on now, plus the baddie, that puts a lot of noise into your scores.

High Bal Jan 2009 $116k on $146k limits 80% Util.
Oct 2014 $46k on $127k 36% util EQ 722 TU 727 EX 727
April 2018 $18k on $344k 5% util EQ 806 TU 810 EX 812
Jan 2019 $7.6k on $360k EQ 832 TU 839 EX 831
March 2021 $33k on $312k EQ 796 TU 798 EX 801
May 2021 Paid all Installments and Mortgages, one new Mortgage EQ 761 TY 774 EX 777
April 2022 EQ=811 TU=807 EX=805 - TU VS 3.0 765

Re: Scoring data points and AZEO

I didn’t intentionally let all zero’s report.
It just happened by accident. My fiancé Accidentally paid some charges she made twice and it made our joint card report a zero when I left a balance on it intentionally.

The 4 cards reporting, she came down to Barbados to visit me since I’m currently out of the country. She doesn’t have many noFTF cards so we used the 3 cards we share accounts on.

I’ll try to work on AZEO from now on and see if it will go back up to 678

Re: Scoring data points and AZEO

That might be an EX thing. I had $7.00 report and EX dropped around 15 points, and it was showing my revolving credit use as 0%.
I think if you are getting your scores directly from EX, they do not round it to 1% ( at least not for me).
Once I had second card reported a week later, points on EX were back.
I only get TU and EQ scores monthly, so I have no clue if there were any changes there

Re: Scoring data points and AZEO

After reading that comment.

I went back and looked.

I get my scores from discover scorecard, Amex and Citi.

In January and February, citi, discover and Amex all matched. Score wise.

March 8th
Discover credit score card updated
676
Calculated Util 3%
Which is high. It should only been 0%- 1%

March 14th
Experian App updated my report (no score)
The calculated Util was 1% which is what it should have been.

March 24th
Citi updated
664
Calculated Util 3%

The balances haven’t changed at all during the month of March except on March 23rd when Chase went from $25 to $0

Discover and Citi are ignoring some tradelines in Util. They aren’t including AU accounts in Util.

Which makes this even more confusing.
Since the score drop happened when an AU account was paid down.

I have a total of 51,650 in total credit lines including AU.

This doesn't sound correct.  The chances of that happening are extremely slim, as those 3 lenders provide 3 completely different scores, as all 3 use different bureau data and Citi uses a different scoring model than the other 2.  Chances are that the scores were all generated at different times as well.

Re: Scoring data points and AZEO

All of them are Experian FICO 8

discover’s Creditscorecard.com updates on the 8th

Amex FICO updates on the 15th.

Citi’s free FICO site updates the 24th.

In January and February. Between the 8th and 24th of those 2 months. Nothing changed in my credit report. So the scores were the exact same number between those date ranges.
All of my credit cards close between the 26th - 6th of the month. Except Amex PRG but I always let that card close at zero since it’s a charge card
