Scoring question...

So my DH had a score of 611. He had a Dell acct with a balance of 1497 and we paid it down to 997 and he didn't get a score increase. We paid it down to 196 and it gave him 5 points. My question is that we just had our TV and computer go and we bought a new one and used our Dell acct and now his balance is 2800, if we pay it to the 1497, do you think he will just lose 5 points? Thanks!

Re: Scoring question...

Is it factored as a revolving account or an installment?

Re: Scoring question...

It's a store card, doesn't have a visa or mastercard attached to it, and on my report its considered a revovling account.

Re: Scoring question...

Revolving accounts have two flavors.

Credit card revolving debt scores higher than other revolving debt, such as a line of credit extended by a credit union.

How is it recorded in his CR?

Re: Scoring question...

It's being recorded as a charge account. Not a credit card.

Re: Scoring question...

I think that I will only lose 5 points since that is what I gained when I paid it down, but what do you think?

Actually, this is incorrect. CC's, LOC's, and HELOC's are all lumped into revolving util and carry equal weight. High-limit revolving TL's are excluded from calculating util altogether.
