that should be 2007... an account i know is paid but they are showing a balance on it....
how soon after i get it disputed and cleared will my scores on eq show some imporvment.
FICO scoring does not differentiate between paid and unpaid collection accounts. All it knows is that there is a collection account there, and as such your score will drop. But paying a collection account could lower your score. The reason for this is that FICO scoring gives the greatest weight to recent accounts. When you pay the account, the collector is forced to update the account to show as paid, bringing the activity more recent. That recent collection account could hurt your score even more.
Best option is to try to PFD - Pay for Delete and get that completely removed to see an immediate boost. If you have proof you paid the OC - original creditor then they should delete it that way as well. If you paid in full the CA - collection agency you are kinda SOL. Could try a GW letter or even prior to that start with getting them to validate the debt. See threads below.

There is no way these scores should be that different with EXACT reports. Something isn't listed somewhere or a derog shows on EQ. Something isn't right.
Why is that?

Cause it would have been the same result he's just gotten from EQ. OP said there was a derog on his EQ that he didn't know was there when he asked why there was a mile difference between two scores when he originally thought the reports were identical.
The only differences I can spot is:
And for these, I'm dinged for almost 60 points?! Something is definitely wrong with this formula.

I understand what you meant now. When I first read the post it sounded like you were advising to never buy a EQ score from here. Thanks for clearing that up.
