Strange 3 pt drop in EQ score

I pulled my EQ yesterday after my last account with a balance, other than amex charge reported. My score was 792. I validated only amex had a balance, which doesn't count towards your util %. My new balance hadn't reported from amex yesterday, it was at ~$6000 when I pulled that report yesterday. Today my amex hit EQ and I received a notice from myfico of a change to my account. When I logged on, my score dropped from 792 to 789. The amex reported a $2000 increase from last month. But, this balance is a charge, and does not affect utilization. So why a decrease in score? I haven't applied or had any other activity other than this.

Assuming you don't have any additional TLs reporting a balance compared to last time, my vote would be the higher balance on the Amex. While it isn't included in util purposes, there is a FICO scoring code for the amount of balances reporting.

Re: Strange 3 pt drop in EQ score

I am out of ideas....What I noticed during a trial period with the equivalent product from Equifax directly that their updates were up to 1 day faster than SW at MyFico and this resulted in different Fico scores for me on the same day....But when SW updated the Fico scores were identical but just with a small delay. Could be that EQ updated something and MyFico did not consider this yet. USAA probably pulls also directly from EQ and might have updated faster than MyFico. Alerts I usually get from MyFico last Smiley Sad...

Re: Strange 3 pt drop in EQ score

It is no big deal really. it is only 3 pts... not like it was 30. I just find it odd... What I thought was that maybe not reporting any balance at all on my credit cards might have dinged me. But that should have shown on the first pull I ran which showed my 792 score. That report had all credit cards at 0, then the Amex charge at 6k. But like I said, the amex shouldnt have an affect becuase it doenst count towards my utility...

I forgot to leave a small balance on one of my credit cards... so I actually added 100 bucks to one that reported yesterday... I am curious to see if that really makes a difference..
