Does anyone know where the CRAs get our street addresses from? I have an address where I never lived that shows up on my reports. I disputed it with EQ and it disappeared but now it’s reappeared and is also reported by another.
This is an address where my ex-spouse lived about 4 years ago. We’ve been divorced for 7 years and none of the accounts on my reports ever had that address listed as an address.
My suspicion is that the CRAs gather other demographic info such as addresses and may have gotten this address in some matching process, e.g. my ex took our land line to this address. Does this make sense?
Also, does anyone have any tips on how to delete this address permanently?
Thanks.
Many of us have addresses that don’t belong. They get them from any past accounts. Joint accounts sometimes get addresses mixed up. Mixed files happen. They are pretty easy to dispute and remove if not yours. Sometimes it takes multiple times disputing. It’s a minor hassle and doesn’t affect much.
Are you an authorized user on any of her cards? If not, I'd look close at all of the accounts listed.
Data furnishers.
Most likely LexisNexis.
If you were to order your annual Full Disclosure file from them, you'll likely see those addresses included. Every place you've ever lived or any address that you've been associated with in some way is contained in those records. Every email address you've had / used tracked for marketing purposes. Public records such as civil judgements, tax liens, criminal records, etc. Driving records too.
They pay people to collect data then they sell access to that info to various entities, CRAs included.
You can request your file once per year, for free. You can attempt to dispute any incorrect info and have it corrected or removed.
Request your LexisNexis Full Disclosure by phone: (888) 497-8920.

Nice tip on LN. Also our OP may wish to give each creditor on his report a call. Our OP has determined that every account on the reports belongs to him; the next step is to make sure each creditor has his current address and only that address.
Given his initial post, I am guessing that the bad address is not coming from these particular creditors -- some kind of LN screwup is more likely. Still, the ultimate solution is to track down the actual creditor source that his funneling the data into LN or the big Three and correct it there. Otherwise the correction at the Big Three can be temporary.
Speaking with LexisNexis, anyone here had success or experience actually disputing with them?
I have a copy of my full file disclosure and it's 50+ pages divided into several reports (see below for what reports included):
Four or so of the reports contain an address I'm willing to dispute, but each report has a different ATTN although with same PO Box. Should I write four separate letters enclosed in four different envelopes sending with CMRRR (which can add up the cost by quite a lot), or they can go in the same envelope?

I just initiated my first dispute with them earlier this week.
On pages 1-2 of my file (FAQ) one of the questions is "How do I contact you if I have questions about my report or want to to correct information on my report?" The answer says you may contact them via email, phone, or mail. The mailing address noted in the FAQ section is just the PO - no specific 'Attn To'.
I'm trying the email route - it appears this email is good for any one of the report types because it's listed on the intro / letter page for each report. I received a confirmation of receipt with a reference number -- so we'll see if this works - and if not, then I'll try mail.
To answer your Q about mail - I think you can send any dispute to the standard Consumer Center PO address - regardless of report type - and just specify which report you are referencing in your dispute. It seems as though the consumer center handles the entire consumer Full Disclosure. Also, on my report, some of the incorrect data appears in several of the report types. Seems crazy to send individual letters to each sector. In my email, I just listed which reports contained the incorrect information and that I wanted to have it corrected on each. I think if the incorrect info is only appearing in one report, then it makes sense to send a dispute addressed specifically to that sector using the 'Attn To' - though I honestly think that's just for mail sorting purposes given it's the same PO for all. I guess you could always call and ask.
And yes, I'd send it CMRRR just for tracking purposes.

Hi guys. I would really like to know how the dispute with NexisLexis works out. I think it would of great interest to the broader community here, and would deserve its own thread, with a subject header like:
LexisNexis -- how I obtained my report and corrected errors in it
You could explain how you initially requested it, what the report looks like (loved that picture with the sections), what you chose to dispute, whether email worked well, and the final results.
I bet a lot of people would like something like that. I know I would.
I was planning to do that anyway so glad to know at least one person would be interested! I'll update as I receive feedback on my disputes - and can start a thread sometime today on how to request Disclosures.
