Sudden score drop - please help (UPDATE)

A bit freaked out here.

EQ

10/4 - 753

10/8 - 739

EX

10/4 - 746

10/8 - 732

NOTHING has changed, period.  NO inquires since June.  NO new account since June.  NO collections, judgements, etc.  I just went through my reports (from myFICO) and ZERO negatives of any kind.  I am 100% sure based on reading my reports here now that nothing is new nor has anything happened in any form of a negative way.

Cany anyone please shed some light here?  This is very disheartening as hard as I have worked on this.  The only derog I have is a very old delinquency which is still only on my TU file.

EDIT:  I did not recently pay off a loan or such.

EDIT 2:  I did verify on my reports that (1) CC reports a $10 balance.

Re: Sudden score drop - please help

That's less than a 2% variance, well within normal parameters for score fluctuation. Nothing to worry about.

Thank you for replying.  I have seen -4 and -5 from time to time but I have not seen a -14 ever since I started monitoring this.  I read each account for installment and revolving and while some creditors were behinid in reporting it clearly states zerro negatives.

Re: Sudden score drop - please help

Don't focus on the raw number, focus on the percentage. If your scores were in the 500's, this would be a concern. At your level, it isn't.

Re: Sudden score drop - please help

I was going to guess that you might have allowed all revolving accounts to report a $0 balance, as I experienced a score drop in that range one month when I allowed all accounts to report $0 - but I see in your edit that is not the case.

Year 2012: All Scores in the 520 range, during a foreclosure, CC Settlement and high UTIL. Very ugly days...
Sept 2024: EX8: 847; EQ8: 850; TU8: 848 -- Middle Mortgage Score: 821
In My Wallet: Discover $73.7K; Cap1 Venture $51.7K; Amex ED $38K; Amex Optima $2.5K; Amex Delta Gold $18K; Citi Costco $24.5K; Cap1 Plat $8.4K; Barclay $7K; Chase Amazon $6K; BoA Plat $21.6K; Citi TY Pref $22K; US Bank $4K; Dell $5K; Care Credit $6.5K. Total Revolving CL: $300K+
My UTIL: Less than 1% - Only allow about $20 a month to report, on one account. .

Re: Sudden score drop - please help

Received myFICO alerts today and hope this is the answer.

TU was -11 today.

  • Type
  • All Bankcard

  • Total Balance
  • $10.00

EQ

The balance on one of your accounts has decreased 100%.

Company CHASE CARD
Description Flexible spending credit card
Contact InformationCHASE CARDPO Box 15298 Wilmington, DE 198505298
  • Account balance

TU

It says this is my total credit card balances.

Balance Change
  • Type

  • Total Balance
  • $10.00

Is this likely the answer everyone?  Normally because of when my due dates are versus when they submit to the agencies I tend to show $100-$225 as a normal total card balances.

Re: Sudden score drop - please help (UPDATE)

I always want to share for future learning.  I did have a balance of $10 on one card but it seemed to read this as no cards reporting a balance.  I just let my CSP report a balance of a little over $1,100 and my EX went up 14 points.

Lesson learned and will not repeat.

Which card?  Was it an AU or anything other non-standard about the tradeline (Amex charge card for another example?)

You mean which card had the $10 balance reporting?  It wasn't an AU card (I have none of those anyway) but was a standard Wells Fargo Visa.

Re: Sudden score drop - please help (UPDATE)

ok - I had a sudden drop on my CK - EQ score and didn't know why - I kept looking and no new negatives - then I realized my AAoA had changed - A LOT - My old mortgage from 2008 dropped off - and two CC's closed in 2004 but reporting positive - dropped off - my AAoA went from like 6 years down to 2!    I think that was why it dropped.

My Actual TU and EX are 661 (I get from CCT and my CC) but I don't have a current version of my true EQ score - so I have to follow on CK until I can pull a new report on the 1st.   Scary because it was the only one dropping - but it was also the only one that reported those old accounts.........I figure all accounts are reporting the same now- so it SHOULD level out - I hope!   Otherwise - CK was running within a few points of FICO scoring _October 8 had CK at 677 and CCT had it at 679 - I may really only have a 620!
