Do you have other cards? You won't be dinged if you have at least 1 card reporting a small balance (less than 9%). Whatever the sum of all your CL's are the balance needs to be less than 9% of that.

OK you need to have 1 of those cards report a balance (between 1,000/1,500 for a 15K total CL) and all other cards reporting 0. Do that and you'll see FICO points! (for good UTIL)

You wont be dinged for having a 0 balance on any of the cards. FICO has no memory of prior reports. Just what is currently reporting that month. You can use all of your cards just make sure all but 1 reports a 1/1.5K balance and you'll be just fine.
