Wanted to take a moment and express my gratitude to the posters on this board. About two months ago, I got the itch to purchase a new car, so I pulled my free credit report and knew I had some work to do. Obviously, I've known about FICO scores all my life but never truly understood how they worked.(What contributed to increases/decreases etc.). I stumbled upon this board via google and it truly opened my eyes. I've spent hours over the last 3 weeks reading threads, applying advice given to others to my own situation. The actions that I took were very simple and painless. 1. I found one deragatory account that was not mine and had it removed. 2. I paid off a 187.00 C/O for a cable bill. 3. The largest increase came from paying down $1300.00 in credit card debt to achieve 7% utilization. Even with the wealth of knowledge I found, I was skeptical of the results. I've been refreshing my score everyday since my last CC statement cut. Today, I got the info I had been waiting for. Per Experian, on March 8th my FICO score was a 580, as of today I am sitting at 745. This board has saved me thousands in interest on my upcoming loan. The information found here really should be taught in schools. I appreciate each and every person who took the time to respond to a thread. For anyone else who may be lurking and scared to apply the principles discussed, please give it a shot. They absolutely work. You may not have a quick fix such as mine, but put in the work and I have no doubt you will see progress.
That's great news, nicely done, congratulations on your progress!!

Welcome to the forum. And congratulations on that stellar accomplishment.

I cannot agree strongly enough on these statements. I also found this board, albeit years ago, and absorbed the wisdom shared by others and applied it with success like you have. Congrats to YOU for making the effort to learn 'the why' and better your credit record.
All who participate here are 850's in my book.
I wish LOL
I just got my student loan forgiven. If I had a $32,000 balance on it, or a $1 balance, I would be sitting in the 830s across the board. As it stands now, with a zero balance, I'd be in the 820s. It's hard to get 850!
Congrats on your great accomplishment!!
Congratulations on your progress! Be sure to stick around. These boards aren't only practical, but you can also help others.
AMAZING! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
