This stuff really works!

I've taken these steps over the last 2 months to help raise my score over 700 from 686.

- Make sure that the one credit card that I've used for day to day expenses and PIF in each month is 90% PIF before it bills.  Normally I rack up about $3000/month on it and PIF but under this new scheme, I paid $2700 way before it billed, so that it ended up reporting only $300 as a "balance" to credit scores.

- Make sure that I'm using  a couple of my other credit cards based solely on the advice from these forums.

Result?  In 2 months, my score has jumped up 9 points.  It's not as convenient as it was before where I just used 1 credit card and PIF and went about my business because now have to make sure that I charge something on a couple other cards and remember to do a 90% PIF well in advance of the main credit card's billing date.  But it works, it really works!  This is such a game, I swear...

I have learned a lot from this forum - thanks!

I paid down my $3500 credit card from $3300 to $75 two months ago and my scores went up from 5 pts to 21pts! It was pretty exciting to see that happen. I also have a Capital One card which I recently read up on and found out that they dont report your credit limit to the bureaus. If you have a relatively small amount of revovling credit and a capital one card is the majority of that it can look like you arent using the 1-9% rule. The bureaus will assume that your balance is your limit and therefor you are at 100% utilization with that card.

I understand that they will be changing this policy by the end of the year which is good news. I was going to cancel mine! Something to keep an eye on as they report your limits.

Another update.  Score jumped up again, this time by 16 points!  I'm over 700, in fact now I'm at 711!  Gotta luv it though I need a new goal to shoot for since 700 is now history.  So, aiming for the big 750 now!

Thanks.  It's kind of crazy though.  I mean in less than 5 months since I've started playing "The Game", my score has jumped up 25 points.  Nothing has really changed other than "The Game", no new cards, no new house, no new Heloc's, no new anything.  That's 5 points up every month!  I wonder if the next 25 pts will be much harder...hmmm.

I spent 5 years doing nothing except paying perfectly  and getting getting very little score increase (about 10 points over the last year of that.

7 months of plating the game and getting better at it has resulted in an extra 120 points

But I just sacrificed 7 points to get a 425% increase in my CL from Chase.
