Too Many Cards With Balances- Ding

This is just silliness!

It's the Christmas Season- obviously people will SHOP.

I had 2 cards report last month both appx $1500 and paid them both off but...

I used some other cards, put a few hundred in TOTAL on them, Christmas shopping and..

Ding-Ding-Ding!  Alerts; Too many cards with balances, score drops..AAsmiley_winnerding.gif

The algorithm is just dumb. It is,,, It's dumb. I have about $2600 LESS in total balances but it's spread out so I get slapped.

I know, it's temporary and all but it does seem rather dumb. aa RANT.gif

Re: Too Many Cards With Balances- Ding

How much was the ding? 5 points on TU and nothing on EX?

All my cards report naturally aggregate UTI @ 4%, 0/EX and 5/TU vs AZEO.  Join me at the Auto Pilot Club. Smiley Wink

Yeah, it's too much stress to try paying prior to the statement etc ..

It was only 2 points on both TU & EX, I haven't heard from EQ yet- it isn't much, just the principal is annoying..

I owe less but Oh my, it's on several cards must be a bigger risk...Facepalm.gif

I'm with you, the 2-5 points isn't worth all the hassle.

This is exactly why I can't/don't even try to do AZEO.  It was major work and stress.  The maxium benefit I got out of it was 3 points.  Just not worth it.  I also wouldn't worry about a temporary 2-3 point loss.  It really won't have any effect on your credit life.

Re: Too Many Cards With Balances- Ding

Just report naturally and put everything on autopay so we have more time posting on myFICO.

So, I take it the sky is not falling?

Oldman, thank you for not pretending you have better things to do. It has not gone unnoticed.

I hate autopay the same way I hate passenger seat. I drive! Smiley LOL

Autopay is more like cruise control, you can take control at anytime when needed and just hit resume when you're done.

OMGOSH Me too!  Both. aaahighfive.gif

I wouldn't trust it. I would have to check 'em all anyway.. LOL

I am, however, not going to keep up this trying to pay before the statement nonsense. It is not worth it. rolleyes (1).gif

Re: Too Many Cards With Balances- Ding

Auto pay works, take it from someone that has used it on his accounts religiously!

You only need to worry that first month or so after setting it up. Once it starts to process..no worries, let it ride.

Keep money in the account they draft from, and find something else to worry about. lol

Only two out of the 40 or so CC's I have aren't on autopay. And that's because neither bank offers it as an option on their website.

Those are also two of the least used CC's I have. lol

Most of the people that come to this site searching for answers, distraught over a missed payment and a 50 point score drop. Are the ones that did not set autopay from the beginning. Even if just for the minimum payment. A $5 minimum missed payment isn't worth a 7 year ding.

One huge downside of everyone setting up autopay, less traffic driven through myFICO, it would be like CK were to close shop today. Smiley Tongue

The fear of autopay is unfounded, your only liability is keeping the payment account properly funded, the rest is on the lender to execute the payments correctly and timely.
