Re: Transunion is garbage

If you got your FICO straight from EQ. They give you their FICO score which really is FICO 5 not 8. "The FICO Score is based on the FICO Score 5 model"

Re: Transunion is garbage

Personally, I really like TU. For some reason they are not showing the 2013 30 day late that the other two bureaus are and my TU FICO score runs 20-30 points higher than the others.

Scores: March 21 FICO 8: EX 810, TU 808, EQ 813
AoOA: closed: 40 years, open: 30 years; AAoA: 14 years
Amex Gold, Amex Blue, Amex ED, Amex Delta Blue, Amex Hilton Surpass, BoA Platinum Plus, Chase Freedom Unlimited, Chase Amazon, Chase CSP, Chase United Explorer, Citi AA, Sync Lowes, total CL 203k

Re: Transunion is garbage

I have to agree with the OP Transunion is Garbage, even in Fico, they seem to be the lowest of the 3. Some have great success with them when disputing items and others dont, If you try to ask why my score if different from other 2, they will not tell you. While vantage is bad, in Fico a Transunion score could be off as much 15pts

In my experience, the difference in scores between the bureaus is easily explained by a careful comparison between the credit reports. I would not expect TU or any bureau to compare the three reports for you to find those differences.

Re: Transunion is garbage

They’re all pretty awful. I’ve had good experiences with TU and horrid experiences with the other two — still dealing with the horrors of EQ mistakes right now — the bottom line is they all need to be abolished because they can’t be trusted with our data but if I had to choose one of the three that I would still have my info, it would probably be Experian since the other two have near nonstop website issues.

In my experience with a thin file over 4 years, there is no differences same account and yet different scores with the other 2. With Eq being the hightest.

Nah, you guys are getting bent out of shape for no good reason.  For every person out there that says that TU is the "worst" or gives the "lowest" score(s), you'll by definition find 2 people that disagree with you that would say the same thing about EX or EQ.  It's the same story for all 3 bureaus and situationally whichever one is your personal "best" or "worst" is what you're going to say is the "best or "worst."  It's human nature to base opinions on personal experiences, but it's important to recognize that many other opinions are different or even opposing.

A score being off by 15 (or whatever) points has nothing to do with it being a TU score verses an EX or EQ score.

As far as asking [a TU employee] why their score is "off" from the other two, you're just wasting your time.  Those CSRs probably know less about scoring algorithms than half the members of this forum.  They don't write the algorithms, they don't understand them and it's not their job to know about their competitors either.  It would be like you asking Citi CSR why your CLI from them wasn't as good as the one you got from Amex.  They don't have the answer to that.  Credit scores are based on credit report data, plain and simple.  If a TU score is [significantly] "worse" than an EX/EQ score from the same scoring model generated at the same moment in time, 9 times out of 10 it's going to be because the credit report data that it's being drawn upon is worse.

No clue you even bother posting your personal opinions above about who is bent of shape? Who cares and people are posting experiences they have had not a rebuttal for you to make yourself feel right

I have a 690 Equifax fico score and a 590 Transunion Vantage 3 score. I have no late payments, or any negatives on my history, just high utilization which I just paid off and am waiting for the CRA"s to update the change. I will be over 700 then.

I am looking for an apartment and do not want asinine Transunion to affect me. How can they be so different? Do lenders know that they are getting an inaccurate credit picture when they use Transunion products?

First, you are comparing apples and oranges here.  These are 2 completely different scoring models.

I’ve found TU to be really accurate and responsive. Don’t give any weight to Vantage scores. I’ve never heard of any mortgage lender using it.

I agree with this- TU seems to be the most accurate for me.  EQ has always been off since I started tracking my scores in 1994 and has never been on par with the other two, ever.
