Trying to figure out a FICO Score Increase (34 points on EX and 19 points on EQ)

My SO got a 34 point increase (from 670 to 705) on Experian and a 19 point increase (from 683 to 702) on Equifax. He had on collection, DOFD 6/2011, paid in settlement in 2013/14) that fell off his reports. Nothing else changed other then his most recent credit card hit the 6 month mark. He also has some paid C/O from 2011 that are all due to fall of in a few months. Can a collection that was deleted make that much of a impact?

Sounds about right - very close to the boost I received across all 3 bureaus when my one collection fell off. I, too, have an old paid C/O still reporting. Congrats to him!

A collection being deleted could result in anything from a 0 point gain up to probably a 100 point gain and certainly anything in between.

The biggest factors that would determine where in that 0-100 point range one would fall are the remaining number/severity of negative items that remain when 1 baddie (collection in this case) is removed from the equation and the age of the baddie removed, as well as the age of any/all other baddies that remain.

Thanks for your feedback.

For DP, my SO profile is:

Experian:

AAOA - 9.9 years

Open Accounts - 6 credit cards, 1 auto loan. Most recently opened 8/17 credit card and 11/17 auto

5- C/O all paid/zero balance, DOFD between 6/11 and 8/11

Score before collection deletion: 670 increased to 704 after deletion.

Note: 2 C/O deleted in early February and it increased the score from 662 to 670.

I figured that if the collection was my only baddie the score would jump but as you can see my SO has other baddies.
